And here we go again! Another round of weekend construction is upon us. Before you make your weekend plans check out this list to make sure you won’t run into any closures before you hit the road!

I-94/I-696 interchange in Macomb County:

– Crews will close the entrance ramp from 11 Mile Road to eastbound I-94 for reconstruction. The ramp closure is scheduled to begin Saturday at 10 a.m. and remain closed until late June. A detour will be posted.

– Crews will close the exit ramp from eastbound I-696 to 11 Mile Road for reconstruction. The ramp closure is expected to begin Saturday at 10 a.m. and remain closed until early June. A detour will be posted.

– Eastbound I-696 will close from Gratiot to I-94 during the overnight hours for ongoing construction. The closure will begin at 11 p.m. on Friday and open by 8 a.m. on Saturday, and again at 11 p.m. on Saturday until 10 a.m. on Sunday. During the full closure, westbound traffic will be directed to 8 Mile Road to westbound I-94, while eastbound traffic will be directed to use 12 Mile Road to access eastbound I-94.

I-696 in Macomb County:

Eastbound and westbound I-696 will have two lanes closed between Dequindre and Van Dyke for bridge work. The two lane closure will begin at 5 a.m. on Saturday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday.

I-96 in Detroit:

The eastbound and westbound I-96 ramps to southbound M-39 will be closed for the ongoing resurfacing project on M-39. Each ramp will close at 9 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Sunday. Detours will be posted for each ramp closure.

M-59 in Oakland County:

– Eastbound and westbound M-59 will have the right lane closed between Williams Lake and Airport roads for pavement repair. The single lane closures begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and end by 6 a.m. on Monday.
– Northbound and southbound Dequindre Road under M-59 will be closed for bridge work. The closure begins at 9 p.m. on Friday and ends by 9 p.m. on Sunday. A detour will be posted for each direction of Dequindre. This work is in conjunction with the ongoing widening project on M-59 between Crooks and Ryan roads.

US-12 (Michigan Avenue) in Detroit:

The two right lanes of eastbound and westbound US-12 will be closed between Livernois and Clark streets for a new resurfacing project. The double lane closures begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, 4/26. Details of this project are included in the attached press announcement.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway) in Detroit:

Northbound and southbound M-39 will be reduced to a single lane between M-153 (Ford Road) and McNichols Road for ongoing resurfacing. The lane closures begin at 9 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Sunday.

M-10 (Lodge Freeway) in Detroit:

Northbound and southbound M-10 will have a double lane closure for bridge painting at 8 Mile Road. The two lane closures begin at 9 p.m. on Friday and end by 9 p.m. on Sunday. Beginning at Noon and ending at 2 p.m. on Sunday, southbound M-10 will have two lanes open for traffic heading to Joe Louis Arena for the NHL Playoff game.

STARTING MONDAY:

I-275:
In Wayne County, scheduled to occur on Friday, 4/23, crews will open the ramp from northbound I-275 to westbound I-94.
Scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, 4/26, crews will close the ramp from northbound I-275 to eastbound I-94 for ramp reconstruction.  A detour will be posted directing drivers west on I-94 to Haggerty Road, and using Haggerty to access eastbound I-94. The ramp is expected to remain closed until early June.

I-94:
In Wayne County, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, 4/26, crews will close the right lane of westbound I-94 at I-275 for interchange work. The right lane closure is expected to be removed by Friday, 4/30.

Weekend Construction Update!

I-696

In Macomb County:

  • Eastbound and westbound I-696 will have the left-two lanes closed between I-94 and Hayes Road for ongoing bridge and pavement repair. In conjunction with these lane closures, the ramp from eastbound I-94 to westbound I-696 will be closed. The double lane and ramp closures begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday.
  • Eastbound and westbound I-696 will have two lanes closed between M-53 (Van Dyke Ave) and Dequindre Road for ongoing bridge work. The double lane closures begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday. In conjunction with this closure, the westbound I-696 exit to Mound Road will be closed from 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday.

In Oakland County:

Eastbound and westbound I-696 will have one 15-minute total closure at Halsted Road in order for crews to remove an overhead power line. The 15-min closure will occur between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15.

I-96

In Oakland County:

  • Ongoing bridge work will require a double lane closure on eastbound and westbound I-96 under Meadowbrook Road. The double lane closure will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday.
  • In conjunction with the double lane closure, the westbound I-696 connector to westbound I-96, the eastbound I-96 connector to eastbound I-696, and the existing two lane ramp from northbound I-275 to westbound I-96 will all be reduced to a single lane during the same time frame.

I-94

In Detroit/Wayne County:

  • Detailed bridge inspections will require a left lane closure on eastbound I-94 from Central to Martin roads beginning at 9 a.m. and ending by 3 p.m. on Friday.
  • The right two lanes of westbound I-94 will be closed at Chene Street for bridge work. In conjunction to this closure, crews will close the on ramp from Harper Avenue (east of Chene Street) to westbound I-94. The lane and ramp closures are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and end by 1 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Bridge inspection work will require the two left lanes of eastbound and westbound I-94 to be closed between Addison and Lonyo roads beginning at 8 a.m. and ending by 3 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. on Saturday, bridge inspection crews will close the ramp from westbound I-94 to southbound M-39 (Southfield Road).

M-59

In Oakland County:

Scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, crews will close the westbound M-59 exit ramp to Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., and the MLK entrance ramp to westbound M-59 in Pontiac. The ramps will remain closed for one week, with both scheduled to open at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. Detours will be posted for each ramp closure.

I-75

In Oakland County:

Northbound I-75, from 14 Mile Rd to Big Beaver Rd, will have intermittent single and double lane closures for pavement repair on Saturday beginning at 7:30 a.m. and ending by 3:30 p.m.

M-5

In Oakland County:

Eastbound M-5 will have will have the right two lanes closed from 13.5 mile to 12.5 mile roads on Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. and ending by 6 p.m.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway)

In Detroit:

Southbound M-39 will have the two left lanes closed at Joy Road for repair from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Square Lake Road

In Oakland County:

Ongoing resurfacing will result in a double lane closures on eastbound and westbound Square Lake Road between Telegraph and Woodward beginning at 5 a.m. on Saturday and ending at 6 a.m. on Sunday.

ROAD CLOSED 

I-375
In Detroit:

FULL CLOSURE of southbound I-375 at Lafayette is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday and remain in place until 7 p.m. on Sunday. The full closure is needed to replace traffic control devices at the southbound I-375 exit to westbound Jefferson Ave. The work is weather dependent.

I-275
In Oakland County:

Southbound I-275 will have the two left-lanes closed from Grand River Ave to 8 Mile Road for ongoing pavement repair. The single lane closure begins at 10 p.m. on Friday and ends by 6 a.m. on Monday.

I-696
In Macomb County:

  • Eastbound and westbound I-696 will be reduced to a single lane between Hayes Road and I-94 for ongoing bridge and pavement repair. The lane closures begin at 9 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday. In conjunction to this work, crews will close the eastbound I-94 ramp to westbound I-696 during the same time frame.
  • Eastbound and westbound I-696 will have two lanes open between Dequindre and Van Dyke for ongoing bridge repair. The double lane closures begin at 9 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday.

In Oakland County:

  • Eastbound I-696 will have the two lanes closed at Halsted Road for ongoing bridge work beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday and ending by 5 a.m. on Monday.
  • Bridge work will also close the two right lanes on eastbound I-696 from Middlebelt to Franklin roads beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday and ending by 5 a.m. on Monday.
  • Westbound I-696 will have the two left lanes closed from Woodward Ave to Lahser Road beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday and ending by 5 a.m. on Monday.
  • Westbound I-696 will have two lanes closed from Orchard Lake to Halsted roads for ongoing bridge work beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday and ending by 5 a.m. on Monday.

I-96:
In Oakland County:

Westbound I-96 will have two lanes open from Meadowbrook to Novi Road beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday and ending by 7 p.m. on Sunday.

In Detroit:

The ramp from westbound Davison to westbound I-96 will be reduced to a single lane for ongoing bridge work. The lane closure begins at 9 p.m. on Friday and ends by 8 a.m. on Saturday.

M-150 (Rochester Road)
In Oakland County:

 Maintenance work will result in a closure of the right lane on northbound and southbound Rochester Road between University Drive and Tienken Road beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday and ending by 6 p.m. on Sunday.

M-59
In Oakland County:

In conjunction with the project between Crooks and Ryan roads, crews will close Dequindre Road under M-59 for bridge demolition. The closure begins at 5 a.m. on Saturday and ends by 5 a.m. on Monday. A detour will be posted for each direction Dequindre.

I can’t believe it is already October! Really October 1st is kind of important… it not only marks the 1st day of bow hunting season (please don’t even ask how I know that or WHY I care lol) but it also means we are 30 DAYS AWAY FROM MY BIRTHDAY which is on Halloween! So in my eyes, it’s a special day. It also is the 1st weekend of construction this month. I have to say it seems like MDOT is toning it down a bit as it gets colder and colder outside, which means less closures! Check MDOT’s official list below…

I-696

In Macomb County:

  • Eastbound and westbound I-696 will have a single lane open between I-94 and M-97 (Groesbeck Highway). The work is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday.
  • Eastbound and westbound I-696 will have two lane open between M-53 (Van Dyke Ave) and Dequindre Road. The double lane closure will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday.

In Oakland County:

  • Eastbound and westbound I-696 will have a single lane open between Telegraph and Evergreen roads for ongoing bridge work over the Rouge River. The double lane closure begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2
  •  Eastbound and westbound I-696 will have two lanes closed between Evergreen Road and M-1 (Woodward Avenue) for ongoing bridge and pavement repair. The double lane closures begin at 9 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday.

I-275

In Oakland County:

  • The right two lanes of southbound I-275 will be closed from Grand River Avenue to 8 Mile Road for pavement repair. The double lane closure begins at 10 p.m. on Friday and ends at 6 a.m. on Monday.
  • In conjunction, single lane closures will be implemented on the existing two lane ramps that lead from eastbound I-96 to southbound I-275, westbound I-696 to southbound I-275, and southbound M-5 to southbound I-275. The lane closures on the ramps will occur during the same time frame.

M-153 (Ford Road)

In Wayne County:

A single lane closure on eastbound and westbound Ford Road between Telegraph Road and Mercury Drive in Dearborn for resurfacing work. The single lane closure begins at 9 p.m. on Friday and ends by 5 a.m. on Monday.

M-85 (Fort Street):

In Detroit:

Northbound and southbound M-85 will be closed between Miller Road and Oakwood Boulevard for repair to the lift bridge over the Rouge River. The closure begins at 7 a.m. and ends by 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

M-59:

In Oakland County:

Westbound M-59 will close at Martin Luther King Blvd in Pontiac beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday. The full closure will remain in place for two weeks (open Saturday Oct. 17). The full closure is needed in order for crews to rebuild the intersection of westbound M-59 at University Drive.

Through-traffic will be detoured onto southbound Opdyke Road, to westbound Auburn Road, to northbound Woodward Avenue back to westbound M-59. For local traffic, the westbound M-59 exit to MLK will be open. The MLK entrance ramp to westbound M-59 will be closed.

Now if you’ve paid close attention to our Local 4casters…this weekend calls for rain. So there a few of these projects that are weather dependent. So sit back, relax, maybe grab a snack…and if you plan on leaving the house, get ready for detours…where ever you live!

I-96

In Detroit:

  • Eastbound and westbound I-96 will be closed between Grand River Ave (east of Davison) to Livernois for bridge demolition. The full closure will begin at 11 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday. The posted detour for each direction is the service drive.

In Oakland County:

  • Beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. each day on Thursday and Friday, crews will close the northbound Milford Road entrance ramp to eastbound I-96 for pavement repair. During the ramp closure, a detour will be posted.

I-696

In Oakland County:

  • Eastbound and westbound I-696 will have the two left lanes closed between I-75 and I-275 for ongoing bridge and pavement repair. The lane restrictions are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday.
  • Beginning at 5 a.m. on Friday, the ramp from Lahser Road to eastbound I-696 will close.  The ramp is expected to open at 5 p.m. on Monday, August 10. During the closure, ramp traffic will be directed east on the service drive to the Evergreen entrance ramp.

In Macomb County:

  • Eastbound and westbound I-696 will be reduced to two-lanes in each direction between Dequindre and Van Dyke for ongoing bridge work. The double lane closures are expected to begin by 9 p.m. on Friday and end at 5 a.m. on Monday.

Road-Construction

I-75

In Oakland County:

  • Beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. on Friday:  right lane on southbound I-75 will be closed from 14 Mile to 13 Mile roads.
  • Beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. on Saturday:  right lane on southbound I-75 will be closed from M-59 to Auburn Road.
  • Beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. on Saturday:  right lane on southbound I-75 will be closed from Big Beaver to Livernois.

I-275

At the Oakland/Wayne county border:

  • Crews have closed the ramp from eastbound 8 Mile to southbound I-275. The ramp is expected to remain closed until late August. A detour is posted.

M-102 (Eight Mile Rd)

At the Detroit/Southfield border:

Northbound and southbound Greenfield Road will be closed under the M-102 through-traffic bridge for demolition. The full closure of Greenfield begins at 10 p.m. on Friday and will be open by 6 a.m. on Sunday. Detours for each direction of Greenfield will be posted.

M-59

In Oakland County:

Single lane will be closed on each direction of M-59 between Crooks and Ryan roads, beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday.

M-53 (Van Dyke Ave and Freeway)

In Macomb County:

Right turn lane of southbound M-53 at 14 Mile Road in Sterling Heights will be closed for pavement repairs beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday and ending at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 10th.

The following construction is all WEATHER DEPENDENT!

In Wayne and Oakland counties:

Northbound M-39 will be closed for pavement repair and other maintenance related items from McNichols in Detroit to M-10 in Southfield. The full closure is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday. Traffic will be routed up the service drive to eastbound 8 Mile Road to Northland Drive to access either northbound M-10 or northbound Southfield Road

Crews will close two lanes on northbound I-75 from Maple to Rochester roads for pavement repair. The repair work will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday and end at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Double lane closure westbound I-96 from US-24 (Telegraph Road) to Newburg Road. The work is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday.

In Detroit:

ramp resurfacing will result in the following closures and times: The northbound I-75 exit and entrance ramps to and from Mack Ave will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. on Saturday until 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The southbound I-75 exit and entrance ramps to and from Warren Ave will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. on Saturday until 4 p.m. on Sunday.

In Macomb County:

Right lane of northbound M-53 from 35 Mile Road to Ebling Road in Bruce Township will be closed for pavement repair work from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th.

 

Postponed construction in Warren is back on tonight

Good Wednesday morning to you. Mound Road is scheduled to close over I-696 for a period of 8 weeks… and it starts tonight.

The closure is part of the existing road work currently in place to improve bridge conditions along I-696 in Macomb County.

Mound Road will completely close in both directions tonight at 10pm and won’t reopen until early June. Use Ryan Road or Van Dyke Avenue to get around this. Dequindre Road also works well as an alternate.

As for other midday construction around town:

Big Beaver at I-75 in Troy

  • Right lane blocked from 9am-3pm today

Southbound I-75 at Ortonville

  • Left lane blocked from 9am-3pm today

Northbound I-75 at University

  • Left lane blocked until 3pm Friday
